His dad was always a dog man and had several hunting dogs over the years, and he helped Cody get Gabby started in the right direction. Once Cody’s buddies saw how well Gabby turned out as a hunting dog, several of them asked Cody to train their dogs. After ten months of being mentored by Brad and Hall of Fame trainer Hugh Arthur, Cody was operating the company’s AKC Field Trial division alongside Bill Arthur. Over the next four years, Cody and Bill put more than 45 dogs on the AKC National Derby list and produced 40 AKC Qualified All-Age (QAA) dogs. In a short time, Cody became recognized as one of the top minor-stakes field trial trainers in the country, and he also trained and handled “Oldsquaws Little Rascal.” Rascal became the 2018 High Point Derby Dog with 69 points and won the prestigious Purina Award. After five years at MPR, Cody completed his contractual obligations. Will grew up with Labs and rescue dogs on his family’s farm near Athens, GA. He moved to Augusta in 2021 and got his first bird dog, Boomer. He loves training, hunting, and sharing the joy of hunting with others behind a dog. Growing up on a farm taught him a great deal about animal behavior and training. He has guided horseback rides and whitewater rafting trips in Colorado and currently guides fishing trips in Augusta on the weekends. Hugh has been professionally training dogs for six years and brings experience working with all breeds. He has built a strong and proven resume within the raccoon hound circuit. The Arthur name has been highly respected in the field trial community for more than 60 years. His grandfather, Hugh Arthur Sr., is a Hall of Fame field trial trainer and was also Cody’s mentor in the trial game. His father, Al Arthur, has been one of the nation’s top open trainers for over a decade, and his uncle, Bill Arthur, has played a key role in producing many of the country’s top field trial dogs.
